Gang of thugs (the government) wants to tear down man’s home.

[Farmer unveils the 'illegal' mock-Tudor castle he tried to hide behind 40ft hay bales]

Ok so here’s the deal, a man wanted to build a castle but he doesn’t want to go through the pointless and expensive process of begging the government for permission to build a house on land that he owns. I mean, he didn’t want to get permits. So he hid the castle with a forty foot wall of hay. After the construction was finished, he and his family moved in to their beautiful new home. And make no mistake, the home is a work of art. Check out the link and see for yourself.

After living in the home for four years, he tears down the hay wall and reveals his creation to the world. The law in England is if a building is standing for four years and no one objects, the building is legal. Now, evil, soulless bureaucrats are disputing the legality of this man’s home and have given him 6 months to tear it down.

And of course, the sheep begin to bleat, “Nobody thought anything of it when the hay went up. It was presumed he was building a barn or something similar.” said one neighbor.

Well hey, it’s none of your business what he builds on his property.

The sheepish neighbor continued, “It was a complete shock when the hay came down and this castle was in its place. Everyone else has to abide by planning laws, so why shouldn’t they?”

That’s right. Equal oppression for all! Bahhh. Bahhhh. Well you know what? If you don’t stand up on principle for the rights of others, who’s going to stand up for your rights when the thugs come for your house?

I know this happened in England but our laws aren’t that much different. I wouldn’t be surprised if ours were worse!

It all comes down to property rights. If I own my house and the land it sits on, I should be able to build or tear down whatever I please. But if course we don’t actually own our houses or land, do we? Even after we’ve paid off our homes, do we still have to pay property taxes to the government? Yes. If we don’t pay our property taxes will men with guns and badges show up and take away your home? Yes. Do men with guns and badges sometimes show up and take peoples’ houses regardless (eminent domain)? Yes. You don’t own your home. The government does.
